Pancake and Biscuit Mix

Instead of Bisquick, try the following recipe.  Use it anytime you would use Bisquick.  It will save you money and is probably healthier because you know exactly what you put in it.
8 cups flour
1/3 cup baking powder
2 tsp salt
8 tsp sugar (optional)
1 cup shortening
Mix the dry ingredients together and then cut in the shortening.

Store in airtight container.  I use an ice cream bucket, and tape the recipe on the lid.

For pancakes:
1 cup mix
3/4 milk
1 egg

For biscuits:
1 cup mix
1/3 cup milk

Another option (what I do) is to add 3/4 powdered milk to the mix, and then when making up the pancakes or biscuits, add water instead of milk.
